Terms & conditions
These terms cover the free website build and the monthly hosting and support plan that pays for it. Starting an application means you accept them.
1. Who we are
FreeSiteCrew designs, builds and hosts websites for small businesses. You can reach us at hello@freesitecrew.com, and we answer within one working day.
2. What the free build includes
We design and build a complete website for your business at no charge: the pages we agree at the start, the layout and design work, a contact form, and a version that works properly on a phone. We set it up, put your content into it, and put it live.
Anything outside that scope is quoted before we start it. If you ask for something we do not think is worth paying for, we will say so.
3. What we need from you
Your words and pictures, and answers when we ask questions. We cannot start the build without them, and the seven day turnaround runs from the day they arrive rather than the day you apply. If content stops coming for more than 60 days we may close the project and ask you to apply again when you are ready.
4. Review and going live
You see a draft before anything is public. Tell us what to change and we change it. The site goes live on the day you say you are happy with it, and not before.
5. Hosting and support
The build is paid for by the monthly plan that follows it. The plan covers hosting, monitoring, backups, security updates and the changes you ask for as the business moves on. The price is the one shown to you before you start, in your own currency, and it is billed monthly in advance.
There is no minimum term and no notice period. Changes are the ordinary kind: new text, new pictures, new pages, prices, opening hours. Rebuilding the site into something different is a new project, and we will tell you plainly when a request has crossed that line.
6. Cancelling
You can cancel at any time, and the plan stops at the end of the month you have paid for. We do not refund part months, and we do not charge an exit fee.
The site is yours. When you cancel we hand over the files and help your next host get them running. We will keep a copy for 30 days after cancellation in case you need it, then delete it.
7. Who owns what
You own your content, your domain and the finished site. We keep the rights to the underlying tools and components we build with, which we reuse across every project, and you get an unrestricted licence to use them as part of your site for as long as you like.
We may show your site in our own portfolio. Ask us not to and we will not.
8. Payment
If a payment fails we will tell you and try again. If it is still unpaid 14 days later we may suspend the site until it is settled. Suspension is not cancellation: nothing is deleted, and the site goes back up when the payment clears.
9. What we will not host
Anything unlawful, anything that infringes someone else's rights, and anything designed to deceive the people who visit it. We can decline a project or end a plan on that basis, and we will explain why.
10. Availability and limits
We work to keep sites up and monitored around the clock, and we take backups every day. No host can promise uninterrupted service, and we do not. Where something does go wrong, our liability to you is limited to the plan fees you have paid us in the previous twelve months.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
11. Changes to these terms
If we change them we will email everyone on a plan before the change takes effect. Carrying on with the plan after that means the new terms apply. If you would rather not, cancel, and the old ones apply until your paid month ends.
Privacy policy
What we collect, why we have it, and how to get rid of it. We do not sell anything about you to anyone, and there is no advertising tracking on this website.
1. What we collect
When you apply: your name, your business name, an email address, a phone number if you give one, and whatever you tell us about the site you want. When you are a client: the content you send us and the correspondence between us. When anyone visits this site: the ordinary server records of the request, which include an IP address.
2. Why we have it
To answer your application, to build and run your website, and to bill you for the plan. Server records exist to keep the site up and to investigate abuse. We do not send marketing email to people who have not asked for it.
3. Cookies
This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising
scripts. The only thing it stores in your browser is your currency
choice, kept under the name fsc-currency so the prices
stay in the currency you picked. It never leaves your device, and
clearing your browser data removes it.
4. Who else sees it
The companies that run our email, our servers and our payments, and only so that those things work. They are bound to use it for nothing else. We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not pass it to advertisers.
5. How long we keep it
Applications that do not become projects are deleted after 12 months. Client records are kept while you are with us and for 30 days after you leave, apart from billing records, which we have to keep for longer to satisfy tax rules. Server records are kept for 30 days.
6. Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, ask for a copy, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@freesitecrew.com and we will do it within 30 days at the outside, usually the same week. You can also complain to the data protection regulator where you live if you think we have handled something badly.
7. Security
Sites are served over HTTPS, access to client systems is limited to the people who need it, and backups are encrypted. If a breach ever affected your information we would tell you what happened and what we were doing about it.
8. Changes
The date at the top of this page is the last time anything here changed. If a change matters to clients, we email them rather than quietly editing the page.
